Brú na Bóinne

It all began with a tour of Newgrange in 1998, to revisit some fond old memories and make some new ones. Over 20 years, hundreds of visits and thousands of photographs later, I was extremely honored that my portfolio of work in the Boyne Valley was chosen to be reproduced on a grand scale during the recent upgrade and refurbishment of the Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre for Newgrange and Knowth. The new visitor experience was designed and created by Event and it was truly a pleasure working with them to realise their vision.

Over fifty images were chosen, some filling entire walls and a select few reproduced over 10 metres wide. The visitor is guided along a journey through the landscape, from the river’s edge along the Boyne Valley into the everyday world and mythic beliefs of the Neolithic people and, finally, a section titled ‘Into the Monuments’. This tunnel-like area is lined with scenes from inside the monuments of Newgrange and Knowth, highlighting significant transition points and the extraordinary art.
